5 Star Real Estate

Finding a Real Estate Agent Can Be Challenging

Real estate agents provide significant value during home searches by accessing the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), which displays all available properties in your area. They may also have unlisted homes from their agency. Their local market knowledge helps you understand comparable home values and property advantages and disadvantages, strengthening your negotiating position. The real estate agent's commission is built into the price of the home and paid for from the eventual sale. Searching independently typically won't save you commission costs, as these expenses are usually factored into the selling price. Three agent types exist: Seller's Agents represent sellers, Buyer's Agents represent buyers, and Intermediary Agents have one agent appointed to each side. When selecting an agent, visit open houses or ask for referrals. Research whether a Realtor specializes in your preferred neighborhood. Important questions include their area of specialization, experience level, and homes sold in your price range during the past year. Verify they're a Realtor, members of the National Association of Realtors who follow ethical codes. Find someone trustworthy with whom you can openly discuss your preferences and dislikes when viewing prospective homes.
